Previously I spoke about software quality on the following events.

2024-11-12:

Event: Quality & Excellence Day at ASML
Title: Infamous Software Failures

In a hybrid session (physical & virtual) I addressed ~100 participants talking about Infamous Software Failures. I talked about how one single error caused the crash of the Mars Climate Orbiter, how inferior software quality of the Engine Control Module in a car caused an Unintended Acceleration with a death as a consequence and finally about the recent failure of the CrowdStrike update which brought down airports, hospitals, stores and many more last summer.

2024-10-01:
Event: Special Interest Group – System & Software Testing, hosted by Canon Production Printing
Title: The Influence of Software Quality on Time2Market

This SIG was hosted by Canon Production Printing at which we got the opportunity to visit their Customer Centre.
It was nice, for me, to see the Canon Production Printer which is used by Amazon when they print books like “What is Software Quality?”.

2024-05-27:
Event: lunch talk @ Merapar BV
Title: Why we should focus on Pace iso Speed

It was a joy to talk to the professionals of Merapar about Software Quality and it is important to focus on pace iso speed.
In this talk i made the comparison between tire-wear in Formula-1 and quality debt in software development, both resulting in a lower speed. It has a reason that people talk about race-pace and not about race-speed in Formula-1.

2023-09-20:
Event: TechTalk @ mStack BV
Title: Wat is Software Kwaliteit nu precies?

I talked to software professionals of mStack about Software Quality. This talk was performed in Dutch.

2023-06-07:
Event: speaking to DAF Trucks software engineers
Title: An Infamous Software Failure – Unintended Acceleration

Software quality is not only the foundation for efficient software development, it also includes reliable operation according to customer expectations. Especially in safety-critical systems it is required that users remain safe.

I spoke about an intended acceleration of a Japanese branded car by which a woman died and another person got seriously hurt. Six years later Oklahoma court ruled against the car manufacturer due to inferior quality of the software of the Engine Control Module.

2023-05-25:
Event: guest lecture @Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda
Title: What is Software Quality?

I had the honor to be invited to address IT-students to talk about such an important subject as software quality. Always a pleasure to talk to students and discuss software quality!

2022-11-09:
Event: presentation @TMC in Eindhoven
Title: Why you should focus on Pace iso Speed – An analogy with Formula-1.

During this presentation I talked about software quality and compared software-wear with tire-wear in Formula-1 and consequences for speed.

2022-10-13:
Event: presentation @ENTER BV in Eindhoven
Title: An Infamous Software Error – Unintended Acceleration.

During this presentation I talked about the findings of the Barr group who analyzed the Engine Control Module software of a car which unintended accelerated with a death and heavy injury as a consequence. When talking about these findings I used the 1+3 SQM as a reference.

2022-10-11:
Event: presentation @24th International DSM Conference in Eindhoven
Title: The Gap between the intended-, implemented– and understood design.

During this (short) presentation I talked about the gap between the intended-, implemented and understood design and how DSM can help in mitigating the gap between intended– and implemented design and grow the understood design.

2022-07-08:
Event: guest lecture @University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg (AUT)
Title: Software Quality explained in the context of an Infamous Software Error
